Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award

The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award was established in 1890 to honor individuals who exhibit virtuous civic leadership, exemplified by selfless service to others and the community. This is the University of Mississippi’s highest award in honor of service. Award criteria emphasize placing service to others and the community before oneself while embodying the qualities of honesty, morality, ethics, integrity, responsibility, determination, courage, and compassion. Individuals who do not actively seek recognition are prime candidates for this award.

The Sullivan Award recognizes college students, faculty, staff, and community members who exhibit virtuous civic leadership and have acted as humble servants to others by putting service of others before self-interest.

UM faculty, staff, students, and Oxford and Lafayette county community members are eligible to be nominated by someone who believes they have exhibited exemplary service to the community.

The Sullivan Awards are sponsored by The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation. Apply or nominate someone here
