Volunteer Grove

Like many things, a grove does not just sprout into being. A plan must first be made, then seeds or saplings are planted and tended to for a long time before they bloom into tall trees strong enough to weather the storm. The person who planted the trees may not be there to see them reach their full potential, but the value of their work remains just as important. Altogether, intention, effort, and time are required to create something built to last.

The Center for Community Engagement believes that the same applies to community building.  Therefore, Volunteer Grove is a hub for engagement opportunities in the LOU, emphasizing volunteer and service opportunities. Volunteer Grove sends out a bi-monthly newsletter highlighting volunteer and community engagement opportunities on campus and in the LOU community. In addition, Volunteer Grove is home to the Engaged Leaders Program, which supports students striving to log 300 hours of community engagement work before they graduate. We support them through leadership training and help to connect them to projects and partners aligned with their interests.
